Talk At National Art Gallery

The talk went smoothly, talked to Sam from Tokyoplastic, meeting Chuo from ActionTinToy after a long while and also an acquiantance with Moon from Moonfx. Meeting few old and new friends too :) In a nutshell, very cool event! Works are most amazing and great knowing all of them.

Talk At National Art Gallery Tomorrow

Went for the testing this morning at the National Art Gallery, so far so good. I'll be showing a few Making-Of videos of my toy sculpturing project during the talk, if you are interested in my toy project too, do drop by & I'll see you there!

Preparation for the Talk

Finally, done with the presentation slides for the talk at National Art Gallery! Boy, am I relieve :) Included a lot of images/photos which have not been released so far, so, do drop by for the Talk on Saturday yo!

Side Notes: While searching through all my art works for the slides preparation , realize have been long since I did any painting. Well, guess have to start sometimes soon...

1000tentacles Talk at National Art Gallery

We will be giving a talk and presending our art at National Art Gallery and here's some info regarding the event:

Date: Saturday 31 October 2009

Time: 10.00 am – 1.00pm

Venue: Auditorium, Balai Seni Lukis Negara (National Art Gallery), Kuala Lumpur

Presenters will include Sam Lanyon Jones from animation/motion graphics outfit Tokyoplastic and ActionTintoy( as far as I am informed).

Its open to the public and admission is free. Everyone is invited and don't forget to say hi :)

Sculpt & Clay WIP

Adding another sculpt in my gallery. Entire sculpt using epoxy. Gun using DIY method, lotta sawing, smoothing and glueing work. Still refining the shape, one word, FUN!

Basic shape out, remaining 40 % to go.

Getting him a tummy, gloves next. Bonsai wire used for the basic shape.

Lotta cutting, patching work for this one.

Adding a backpack to him, still refining it. The whole thing getting heavier n heavier..

Did this pencil sketch years back, digging it out for coloring to suit this sculpt. Always love spaceman!

End of the Year + Article

Been a very long while since the last blog. Gee, been a really bz months and barely have time to relax then have to start again. Hopefully end of the year can get some time out for vacation. Thinking of island, but then again, today's news: TSUNAMI...... Samoa Island, Indonesia earthquake, Filipine Flood....OMG.
End of the year, better stay out from those aluring beaches. Higher ground is not a bad idea i guess, especially near end of the year. Mayb will bring along Bolok for the Broga Hill trip.

During one of his mountain scaling, he has suffered a severe froze bite, where his nose, 10 fingers, 10 toes, heels have to be surgically removed/cut. Life has been turning upside down for him, where a seemingly simple daily tasks like brushing teeth, washing face with tovel, whipping backside(nature calls) , walking, holding anything are now as hard as mountain scaling. These tasks not as easy as before for the rest of his life. Some actions he will need help from third party to accomplish becoz of lacking certain part of the body. And his nose skin is replaced by the forehead's skin, therefor, for the last 3 years, his nose actually grow hairs and he has to have them plucked. Walking is like a life struggle since his heels are removed, leaving just enought "meat" to support him. Every step sending extreme pain, night comes the joint pain throughout his body. Deep sleep seems like a wish that will need millions of praying to come true. He however returns to the mountain and plans for the next climb, after all he has gone through.
